Wendy the Super Librarian has saved us all and put together a much needed challenge. It’s based on books you already own but haven’t gotten around to reading. All readers have these and they have a nasty habit of growing faster than we can read. Well, actually it’s a yummy habit.
We Love Shorts – Davy Byrnes Stories checked this box for January 18’s book talk.
New-To-You Author – Endless Number of Days by Claire Fuller
Comfort Read – Some Luck by Jane Smiley. I fell in love with Jane Smiley’s books with The Greenlanders and have bought every once since.
Contemporary – The Mothers by Brit Bennett
Something Different – Sisters in Arms by Helena Schraeder. I recently had the privilege of working with this wonderful author and person. She gave me a signed copy as a departing gift and I can’t wait to read it.
Favorite Trope – A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman
Series Catch-Up – Early Warning by Jane Smiley
Kicking It Old School – A Place of Greater Safety by Hillary Mantel. I can’t visit a city without going to at least one of its book stores. This was purchased from Blackwell’s in that Literary City of Edinburgh a few years ago.
Historical –Balkan Ghosts: A Journey Through History by Robert D. Kaplan. I bought this book before moving to Bulgaria and still haven’t gotten around to reading it.
Paranormal or Romantic Suspense – Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. Can’t believe I haven’t read this yet!
Recommended Read – Sea of Poppies by Amitav Ghosh
Holiday Themes – A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Seen many versions of the movie, but have yet to read the book despite my love of Dickens.
